Hola y bienvenidos a Valencia! A vibrant city which invites you to experience the contrast between the historical old buildings and the futuristic monuments. There is no other city in Spain which allows you to live through the contrast of old and new and, at the same time, offering everything you need for an unforgettable time. Some call Valencia “Bacelona´s younger sister” – and while this might be true, Valencia is actually so much more. But what do you need to put on your list to get the full experience? With these 8 best things to do in Valencia, you are ready to go. Vamos!

One of the best things to do in Valencia is simply walking around and strolling through the streets. With the old buildings and the small alleys, you will find a picturesque view at any corner. You will get a glimpse of the Spanish city life and get to enjoy the old architecture.

A great area is around the Plaza de la Reina, the Plaza de la Verge and in the area of Barrio del Carmen. You do not need a certain plan for your strolls, simply go wherever you like and you will be surprised how many beautiful spots you can discover. At the Western end of the Old Town, you will find the  Torres de Serranos and the Torres de Quart. The two historical towers are a perfect spot to get an overview of the city. Climbing on top of the Torres de Serranos is for free and the  Torres de Quart is 2 Euros.

Is there a better way to experience a place than to try the foods? Valencia makes this fairly easy. The Mercat Central is the central market hall of the city. It is not only well-known for its high variety of different foods, but also impresses with its architecture. The huge building is filled with different stands selling basically everything from fish to fresh fruits or herbs.

Make sure to arrive in the morning as it tends to get quite busy in the afternoon. Plus, you will get to try all the different options before they sell out. The fresh fruits are a clear favorite and a perfect breakfast before strolling around!

Are you ready for some change? Not only does Valencia greet you with a beautiful Old Town, but as well invites you to a trip to the future. The “City of Arts and Sciences” is one of the main attractions of the city. It is located close to the harbour and can be described as an area with multiple complexes and water facilities. It consists of a museum and a restaurant. While you need to pay an entrance fee to see the exhibitions, walking around the area is free.

This definitely is one of the best things to do in Valencia. It is a completely different experience and will not only amaze fans of architecture.

One of the most important monuments of the city is the cathedral. It is located right at the head of the Plaza del Reina. The plaza itself is worth a visit as well.
